At the end of the Second World War with their country lying in ruins, Japanese industry learned quickly from American teaching. The Asian nation succeeded in manufacturing products that became the hallmark for quality the world over. Here lies a paradox on two counts. Firstly, it took 30 years and an economic crisis for the U.S.A. to take up the methodology employed so successful in post-war Japan.
